Bognor Picturedrome

The project comprised the construction of an extension to the grade 2 listed Picturedrome Cinema in Bognor.  The new extension houses a 104 seat screen along with concessions and toilet facilities.  The project was a design and build contract and ECE were employed to develop the design in accordance with the listed building consent and the employers requirements.

The new extension was constructed using a steel frame clad in an aluminium panel system and incorporated high levels of insulation to provide an efficient building whilst limiting sound transfer.

The project also included some demolition, asbestos removals, a new incoming main and fire alarm upgrades.  The existing three screens had to be maintained during the build, coupled with the tight access meant that careful planning and logistics were required along with temporary fire escapes and access routes.  On completion of the build, the clients tenant installed the AV equipment and seating.
