The project comprised of the construction of a two storey addition to an existing building to create a teaching space, a multi-purpose hall, commercial type kitchen, toilets, office space, medical room and storage. Works included the segregation of live school areas, demolition and strip out, asbestos removals, strip foundations, load bearing masonry walls, timber and single ply membrane roofs, engineered floor joists, structural steelwork, partitioning and ceilings, mechanical and electrical installation, decorating and floor finishes, kitchen, toilets and external works.
The construction presented a number of challenges which included working in a live school whilst maintaining safety and educational requirements and an extremely restricted site access, not to mention Covid-19 constraints. As a result of our collaborative approach, we were able to work effectively with our client, the school’s staff and our supply chain to complete the project successfully.
