Following a two-stage open competition the proposal led by Cheesmur was successful and we were appointed to design and construct the new clubhouse. The site became a part of the new South Downs National Park during the planning process but Cheesmur and their design team were able to gain approval for the scheme.
Works required the provision of temporary clubhouse facilities and parking to allow the course to remain operational during construction. Following demolition of existing facilities the building was constructed using a load-bearing 80% recycled wood insulated formwork superstructure with through coloured render and a sedum roof.
The club has stunning views over the golf course, out to sea and across the bay towards Newhaven and over Seaford. The lower ground accommodates all the golfing facilities, with direct access for players from the car park via the Pro shop onto and off of the course whilst the upper floor provides the club bar and restaurant facilities with the flexibility for use as a function space
